Proposed new small trimaran design — the W 22

Already, from the various comments and questions that have come in to this site and also to www.smalltrimarans.com with whom we have the pleasure to closely liason, there seems to be a great need for a small, light, transportable trimaran that is fast yet dry, and a pleasure to handle both on the water and off, but still eminently affordable for both young owners, those with young families, as well as for older experienced sailors who no longer want the hassle and cost of keeping a larger boat.

With that in mind, naval architect Michael Waters is regularly collecting data on possible designs that may best fulfill this criteria, as well as putting together a design of his own based on the above challenging criteria. He will present the most suitable designs in periodic reports that will be available through this site and these will contain technical data and comparisons to help evaluate their suitability, along with his personal comments to guide future buyers. The first report is already out and more info can be found on the Home Page of this site.

As certain aspects will be decided on, they will be presented here and open for all to comment on, in the interest of arriving at one or two excellent designs that will suit by far the largest population of new small boat owners. To read more about this proposed design click here
